I was born and raised in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. My passion for
art began as a young child, with a complete fascination for color. I
use oil as my medium and focus on still lifes, florals, and
landscapes. I am a very optimistic, happy person about life, and these
aspects are evident in my painting. Today, color seems to be my
trademark, and the use of vibrant colors is my calling card.
Everything I look at is a potential painting in my mind.
I have been teaching oil painting for over two decades and my painting
has evolved over this time to reflect my own style that I call
classical realism with an impressionistic flair. I love to teach,
whether in my studio or by traveling to various locations and
conventions throughout the country. As a teacher, I believe an artist
should have the ability to work with a variety of subject matter. The brush strokes should convey that excitement which the
artist has within. |
During the course of my art career, my painting has improved, and has
received recognition. For example, one of my favorite paintings was
judged Best of Show at the Georgia State Capital Exhibit. I have also
had numerous articles published in the Decorative Painter, Northlight
Book Club, and the Decorative Artists Workbook. I also have a 140
minute video on painting roses.
In addition to my commitment to art, I also enjoyed a 35 year
career with Bellsouth. I retired from Bellsouth in 2001, and have
since devoted greater energy to my art career. Passion and
persistence have been the key elements to my continued growth as
an artist. Since my retirement, I now have more time to
devote to painting, and my ability has now caught up to my easel. |
